Bohetang Kantou 2025

7O2B25
The second grade of Bohetang, from old but pruned tea trees.

Bohetang is a rare and famous specialty from Yunnan: a very remote area in the Yiwu tea region, where years ago an ancient tea garden was discovered in a primeval forest with exceptionally rich biodiversity. No one lives there; the nearest village is several hours away on foot, Bohetang can only be reached on foot, or, for some years now, also by motorcycle—though only with considerable difficulty.

In this tea forest grow 50 large, very old tea trees (12 m tall or higher; tree no. 13 died in 2017, so there are now 49 large trees), 249 topped (i.e. pruned) old tea trees, and many smaller tea trees.

Our Bohetang Kantou comes from the tea of these 249 pruned old tea trees. Four families, connected through four sisters, watch over this tea; they sell it only in agreement with one another.
