Gu Keng Dong Pian

4TKD
Wonderful green, ball-rolled oolong from the hills of Gukeng. Strictly speaking, it is not a high mountain tea, as the garden lies below 1,000 metres above sea level, yet it shows many qualities associated with one.

The term Dong Pian refers to the harvested leaf material and the time of harvest. After the last harvest in autumn or winter, usually in November, the tea plants enter a period of rest. If a sudden warm spell occurs, the plants begin to sprout again as they would in spring, and new leaves start to grow. Teas made from this harvest are called Dong Pian, literally “winter slice” or “winter leaf”. Dong Pian oolongs are rare and prized for their intense sweetness.
