Ya Shi Xiang

A wonderful Fenghuang Dancong of the lighter kind, only lightly roasted over lychee charcoal, which belongs to the Yelaixiang fragrance category, ‘fragrance that comes at night’. Others categorise it in the Xingrenxiang fragrance category, ‘almond fragrance’. Original from Pingkengtou on Mount Wudong, the original region of origin of Yashixiang. An alternative common name is Yinhuaxiang, ‘silver flower fragrance’. Yashixiang means “duck shit fragrance” and is one of the more specialised varieties. The legend goes: In a field fertilised with duck manure, the tea bushes grew particularly well and the tea from them produced a beautiful, unique aroma, which is why the tea from these bushes was called duck shit fragrance.
