Gaiwan Yuan Stil Pferdehuf

CGJY
Gaiwan in Yuan style with blue-and-white painting.

The depicted Taotie, the "glutton," was traditionally seen as a symbol of greed – a creature that chokes on its own insatiable hunger. In later eras, the motif was reinterpreted as a symbol of abundance. "Horse hoof" refers to the shape of the gaiwan with its flat base.
