Old, stored Pu Er Sheng Cha

Daxueshan 2000

7D00
An extremely rare, aged Sheng Pu’er from the year 2000. Various factors make this tea a great exception. It dates from a time when high-quality Sheng Pu Er productions were still the exception: the tea leaves, the processing and the storage are all impeccable - an almost impossible combination. The tea leaves come from ancient wild tea trees, which differ significantly from the cultivated tea trees that are several hundred years old. These wild tea trees stand in a primeval forest over 1,000 years old on Mount Daxueshan near Mengku; the wild tea trees are likely to be just as old and are commonly referred to as 1,000-year-old tea trees – the large blue characters on the wrapper, ‘Qiannian Yesheng Gushu’, mean ‘Thousand-Year-Old Wild-Grown Ancient Trees’. This primeval forest is very difficult to access, so production is small – and the tea trees have been protected since 2009 and may no longer be picked. The processing was meticulous and executed to a very high standard of craftsmanship. The tea was stored under optimal conditions in Mengku, China, until 2015; in Belgium from 2015 to 2023; and in Bern from 2024 onwards. We were able to purchase it through Les Feuilles Vertes from the producer’s son (Li Xiubin). These factors make this production one of our greatest treasures. This tea is now only available in small quantities and can no longer be produced, which is why we are limiting its availability.
