Large, finely crafted clay pot with handle (Japanese kyusu), unglazed, with a strainer incorporated into the clay at the spout for preparing Japanese tea in the way of Sencha-do (leaf teas such as sencha, gyokuro, etc.). Handmade by Maruta Shuichi in the Hoshino ceramic style. Wood-fired in a noborigama (Japanese hanging kiln) called Jugomori in the village of Hoshino.
