Cup Jianshui Holzbrand Langgui 1
Handmade cup for Gong Fu Cha, crafted from Jianshui clay and fired at Langgui Chaishao. The ash produced during the burning of wood settles on the pieces in the kiln and begins to melt into a glassy layer at temperatures above 1150 °C. Depending on the firing atmosphere and the position in the kiln, various ash deposits and firing marks form, shaping the surface of the clay. The name refers to the illusion that the cup appears deeper than it actually is. Shan Shui refers to the painting and means mountain-water, a classical motif in Chinese painting.
