Zhen Xing Cha (needle leaf)

Zhen Xing Cha teas are produced in many different regions of China. The literal translation is "needle form tea", and those made of buds only are also called bamboo leaf tea. Most of these teas are heated in the oven with hot air, while a few are fired in a wok. In order to achieve the needle form, the leaves are lightly pressed against the wall and slid back and forth with a brush or broom. When produced by machine, this is usually achieved by using a heated mechanical shaker. Zhen Xing Cha teas are subtle and delicious with a typical but unobtrusive bitter green tea note.
